Okay, I am planning on re-upholstering the daybed that my mom and step-dad got for my graduation. First, I strongly dislike the fabric that is on it. Second, it's not even a good quality fabric and was obviously not professionally upholstered the last time it was recovered. Third, the upholstery is not in the greatest shape...some stains and a few small rips here and there, mostly on the back piece. My question is what would be a good color to re-upholster the daybed with? The chairs I got over the weekend are an almost mint color as are the walls. The rug is off-white, yellow, and shades of brown. What color do you think would fit well into that scheme. Also at some point in the future (after building my design funds back up), I'm planning on getting an upholstered George Nelson rocker in the mustard yellow to go in the opposite corner...so a color that would work with that too would be helpful. I'm posting some pics below of the daybed, one of the chairs, and the rug so you can see the color scheme for yourself.

A pic of the disassembled daybed. The back of it is leaning against the chair. And one of the chairs. the chairs and wall are more of a minty green then they are showing in this pic.

A pic of the rug:

This fabric is okay,
but I don't love it or anything. Also, I think I'd like a fabric with a darker color background. Something that would work well with my mint-ish green chairs (the color doesn't show up right in the pics), and mustard yellow...the color of my laurel lamp and the color I hope to get in the Miller rocker. The fabric doesn't have to have these colors in it, but something that would work well with the colors. Also, my favorite color is orange so perhaps a fabric that works orange into it somehow? But then again maybe now *shrugs*

I have always quite liked...
the top pattern. I looked at the site and the only one I thought might go well color-wise is the Small Dot Pattern in 003 which is Khaki. If you want a pretty good color comparison to my chairs, the 009 Green in the same style is fairly close. My chairs are a tad bit lighter and a tad bit brighter but fairly close in color.
I also have always loved the Letters pattern also pictured in the Textiles of the 20th century. I like it in the gold color, but I doubt it would look good with the green chairs. A bit too much. I think someday that I will have to get another chair and recover it in that fabric.
On the couch, I'm also possibly leaning towards using some type of tweed pattern. Any suggestions color-wise will be appreciated. I'm not so worried about it going with the rug as that rug will probably be moving locations. So I can always find a rug that works wiht everything after having the couch reupholstered. The only colors to really work with are the green of the chairs, and the mustard yellow that is in the laurel lamp and hopefully soon a mustard-yellow Nelson rocker.
I'm also open for suggestions on a rug that will work well in that area. The rug I have is okay but only in fair condition. I grabbed it from my grandmother's house after she died. I think everyone else was thinking of just chucking it. Her cat used to claw the rug pretty good and we always ran and rolled around on it as kids and didn't exactly treat it with great care. I'll probably place it in the bedroom.

Cloud...did you check out the website?
The Maharam website is fun to look through.
all of the high quality MCM fabric is in the Textiles of the 20th Century book. You can scroll through and click on a particular fabric and see the different colors it comes in.
Maharam fabrics are usually $90.00 a yard, but once you find the one you want, you can sometimes find it on eBay.
I bought 2 1.2 yard of Crosspatch in the spring color scheme on eBay for $24.99 plus shipping. It would be over $200.00 retail!
That's another good way....once you know exactly how much fabric you're gonna need, then do a search on eBay for:
eames fabric
maharam fabric
modern fabric
or some such search and you'll find lost of goodies. That can also help you with your search for a more solid type fabric for the couch.
Look for fabric that's rated for upholstery.

sorry to say the 90.00 i...
sorry to say the 90.00 is the wholesale price that is what i pay for it , I know they do not sell fabric direct to customers, If you go to a fabric store they will charge you anywhere from 91 to 180.00 a yard for it depending on how they feel.
That is why my company have become so popular
If you want to do a Eames shell chair we provide the fabric at cost,
Also all of the maharam fabrics are great and they are a great company, There 20 century designers are so popular, I have used most of the fabrics on chairs and every customer loves them, great stuff!!!!

Yeah,
I know they don't sell direct to the customer. I'm just getting ideas about what fabrics will look good with my color scheme. I've always liked the Small Dot Pattern on their website, but I really think a tweed fabric might work better. A friend who owns a local antique shop does upholstery. I'm going by there tomorrow with pics of the sofa and the chairs. Hopefully, she can help me find a fabric that will work well.
And yes, I have been checking ebay. I check there constantly for fabric, rugs, whatever.
