Restoring a set of Bertoia chairs

About a year ago I and a friend bought an original set of really worn out Bertoia side chairs from the early 50's. We have since gently restored them and the frame is now as good as new, although their early nature can be seen in the unique welding of each chair. The result can be seen in the link below.

Although we have ordered some custom made pads I am not sure they were made according to the real measurements. Does anyone here have instructions on how to do them yourself including measurements? Attached is an image of the fabric to be used. Does it resemble the original hopsack fabric?

Is it also true that the original chairs were held together with wingnuts?
