Hi - we have a rosewood table with an extendable pedestal - I don't know what the right term for it is. Anyway, I'm pretty sure it's by John Mortensen for Moreddi. The pedestal is wobbly and DH wants to secure it with a screw. Is that really desirable and if not, should he glue it instead?
The pedestal is mostly obscured in this photo, but I think you get the idea.

Too vague to tell.
Depends on what has failed, if anything, but the best repairs replicate or replace whatever was original. Adding a screw here or there on typically unseen structures probably won't devalue your table, but certainly wouldn't add any and possibly won't provide long-term service, either.

Sorry, yes one of the feet...
Sorry, yes one of the feet on the bottom is loose where it joins the leg. DH says it seems that there's a peg or something on the inside that the foot attaches to the leg, but he can't pry the foot off to see for certain.

Perhaps you could post a closeup photo
of the failed joint. It sounds like a dowelled glue joint.
