I have a vintage grey Eames RAR rocker with two 6mm holes drilled in the shell.
Apart from the holes, the shell is in beautiful condition - no chips, no cracks, beautiful fibers etc. Does anyone have any information on where I can get the holes filled in/repaired, and any associated issues I should consider?
Also, how much is this likely to cost, and how much value would it add to the chair?
Thanks
eames shells
nothing, nothing, nothing,
Shells are what they are worth !!! tops 100 bucks for a nice one every now and then you will pay extra for for a unusual color,
Zenith rope Edge $450 to 500 depending . Those holes were for the shells at bus stations and airports on the poles . You can not wip up up a batch of fiberglass to try and fill them cause that would be difficult ,
try
some hard glue/calk and a light sand and your own color. that is how i have fixed several before . and they look about a 8 out of 10 but never perfect the darker colors the easier to fix, cause you can blend them.
