Back in the mid 1990's
I sold bedding and bath at Dayton's in Minneapolis, and I got behind the varied bedding patterns, so my bedroom's neutral and I can change the 'look' with the bedding. Yes, I have beiges and solids, but it's nice to have some bright patterns too.
Ralph Lauren is not known for super bright colors, so this was a real departure for him. I first saw the bed at Bllomingdale's and it was quite striking.
It was an expensive line; the standard pair of pillow cases sold for $99.00! I got the whole bed (duvet, flat and fitted sheet, pair of pillow cases, floral sham, bedshirt and throw pillow) for $299.00.
Thumbs up from Denmark,...
Thumbs up from Denmark, Barry! 🙂 In the right surroundings I could see this RL bedding working very well. It's a bit tongue-in-cheek with its calm blue colours and a little joyful sass which I really like.
I will always have respect for people who step out of their comfort zone and push themselve and their taste forward. It's a very healthy and rewarding process, I believe.
I have the Tribeca bedding from RL
But,oddly enough,it's really sedate, appearing more like a repeating pattern of Navajo diamond medallions in a range of grays and black.Interestingly enough,I would think the "Tribeca" nomenclature would be appropriate for a more vibrant and offbeat design.
Too bright and high contrast for me...but...
Although I use only white beddng I have a parade of pillows that come and go withthe seasons. I like me a nice pop of color and I like seing different colors at different times of the year when the quality of light shifts in the sky. At our place back in Massachusetts, the really crisp blu-white light coming in our living room really set off greens. In the summer I favored reds. It's fun to mess with color and as MD_Andersen put it, push your tastes forward.
