dig the crazy fabric this guy upholstered this rare chair with....Ikea fabric!
When I got mine,
it had a nude, creme-colored silk fabric with vertical piping, which I wasn't crazy about, but there was a problem with the wood frame, so the fabric had to be replaced when the chair was repaired.
At that time, I couldn't (and wouldn't) afford Maharam or Knoll fabric, so I went shopping on eBay and found a grey fabric with a "retro" blue pattern. I'm not sure I can remember the fabric designer now, but it was quality upholstery fabric and similar what I was looking for, and the price was right.
I could have done better, I guess, but I certainly couldn't done much worse!

That's a decent quality fabric. I've seen it on ebay many times and have also seen it in person at the PA Fabric Outlet in LeMoyne, PA.
You didn't say when you bought the fabric on ebay but I can tell you that Knoll and Maharam fabrics have been readily available on ebay for at least four or five years now (which is how long I've been buying them). Some sellers know what they have but many others get unlabeled mill ends. I have learned quite a bit about high end fabrics by checking ebay listings against manufacturers' websites. It takes time but I really enjoy it and have gotten some great buys over the years, typically around $10-12 per yard for Knoll, Maharam, Unika Vaev, etc.
Thanks, Spanky
I got that fabric for less than half per yard as Maharam or Knoll. At that time, Marharam and Knoll fabric was twice as much as it is nowadays.
I had originally thought that either a solid Knoll wool fabric or one of the Ray Eames' fabrics (crosspatch, etc.) would look beautiful on the chair and ottoman. The stuff I got was the best choice for the money (and my friend who reupholstered it agreed).
It's holding up nicely and my declawed cats love sleeping
on it.
Found it: it's PAUL BRAYTON Modern WESTMINSTER fabric.
