I have a Soft Pad chair whose arms need to be re-chromed. Can anyone offer suggestions--where to have it done, how much to expect to pay, what to be careful of, etc.

US or UK
Are you in the US or the UK ?
Are you sure you want chroming, and not polishing ?

I'm in the U.S., and I assume my chair needs rechroming. Most of the chrome is fine except for the right arm where a two-inch patch of chrome is missing.

Polished
I also think the soft pad chairs are polished and then coated with a clear coat protection. My old project, that I found in the garbage, has the protective layer flaking off in some areas and under that I am sure is polished aluminium.

If so, I don't want to have them "re"-chromed. But as this flaking is such a common problem with these chairs, what do others do? Does anyone know of a business that specializes in restoring Aluminum Group or Soft Pad Group arms?
