I've never seen anything like this item. It's early Dansk and I suspect Quistgaard, but would appreciate any information/clarification. I think of it as a fruit basket. I really like it's overall presentation. It needs a bit of fixin'

waffle, I think I saw that piece a few years ago on eBay. The mark is definitely early (I would've said earliest a few days ago before seeing jesgord's bowl). My guess is that it was designed around the same time as the nutcracker, which also uses the upper part of the Congo ice bucket.
Speaking of which, I just won an auction for this nutcracker, which should arrive later this week. It was one of the top items on the Dansk wish list for the last couple of years.

It was this staged 1stDibs photo that made me a big fan of this piece. I will shamelessly duplicate this pose in the near future.

Does anyone know if the large carving board, identified as model 1635 above in the rare woods catalog, was ever offered in anything other than Mutenye? I picked one up today at an estate sale with a number of other Dansk pieces. I have never seen any of the rare wood pieces before.
I cannot find the carving board anywhere in teak. Unfortunately, Mutenye looks a fair amount like teak, so it is a bit difficult to tell just from the wood (it would be much easier if it were Wenge). I know a number of the Rare Wood series were marked on the back with the wood, but I have also seen a number that were not. The one I picked up just has the 4 Ducks "Dansk Designs Denmark" and "JHQ".
Any insight that you can offer would be appreciated. Regardless, I love this piece, it is beautiful with all the end grain!

I believe all wood trays/boards made in Denmark with the four ducks logo are made from teak. There is a teak version of 1635, which pops up on eBay occasionally.. I'm not sure if it is exactly the same, or just very similar.
How about some photos of your haul?

Here is the Carving Board/Tray in question. It is in really great condition. I picked up about 10 other pieces as well, mostly common pieces, but most from the earlier periods of production. I will put the whole haul up shortly.

This looks like th teak version to me. I have had several of these over the years. As a warning, the staves tend to split.

Here is the whole haul from yesterday. Picked up some Michael Lax designed Copco enamelware as well. Sorry, didn't have time for a nice presentation in the photo...

The canoe bowl and acorn jar are two nice pieces. Do they have the old stamp marks on them?

By the way, the acorn jar is model 807.

Yes, I believe they do. Here is the mark from the Canoe. I think this is the older mark, right?
