Here is what I can get. I only have these pictures from online store and short note that it is 20 - 30 years old. They can't confirm originality, as they sell antiques like Luis XVI and don't sell modern.
As far I can judge by the pictures it is the real thing. But rather than believing in my judgment I better ask you as your knowledge is much grater than mine for sure.
I don't want to alter your judgment, so I won't write things that are spot on. I'll only say it is Vitra. And as one can see from the pictures it has been repaired on one side.
Thanks!

I believe the shock mounts on...
I believe the shock mounts on both sides have been repaired (plugged drilled holes) according to the pictures. Your question of buying or not all depends on how much it'll cost you because obviously this chair isn't worth as much as an original one with no drilled through panels.
.
I sure prefer the Vitra "feet" as opposed to the Herman Miller version. But considering the wood repair and the "man-handled" black leather (and the possibility of inferior shock mount surgery, as kin pointed out), I'd probably pass on this bad boy*.
But I'm occasionally wrong.
Always,

* unless the price is adjusted accordingly, natch.
Being a fan of the Eames...
Being a fan of the Eames Lounge Chair, I consider that a good buy as long as it's structurally solid, especially it being a Vitra version. Being in the US, we don't see those too often. But like Mark said, sit in it to fall in love first. Keep us posted!!!
ok.
I've now consumed some libation, which helps in certain situations.
a few" bullets-o-thought".
` It's authentic Vitra
` It's repaired (albeit questionable quality)
` It's priced well
` the leather has skid marks
` It's possibly rosebudwalwood
` It needs a new home
` it is a lovely piece
` Every home should have one
I say buy it, as someone else will.
All the best,
Aunt Mark
Good onservation, Solange. I ...
Good onservation, Solange. I overlooked that as well. If you do get to inspect the chair in person, you can remove the cushions to see if there matching marks on the wood panels. But chances are they're not matching panels as from the pictures. Still, buying a set of cushions for the Eames Lounge Chair costs just about that. So I'd buy to enjoy it.
Follow up
I did not get the chair. I had been trying to contact the seller for 2 days. I wrote an email, still no answer. And when finally the man picked up his phone, he told me that he sold it this very moment to a very nice couple. Damn. Out of grief I drank whole bottle of Chianti. So, I'm still on the hunt.
