Dear Design Addict forum readers:
I have a Mathsson split leg table with several corners that were damaged in shipping. I have to refinish it, but this table is different than others I have seen in that much darker and more brown than other Mathsson dinning tables I have seen. Is this beech? The legs are also stained darker, which I don't like. I was hoping to have it stripped and refinished clear so that the legs are no longer dark and look like our Mathsson chair. I have several questions:
1) What should the original finish be - lacquer? I would like to take off the tint on the legs and the underside of the table by stripping them and am curious how it would look stained the way the typical birch Mathsson furniture is.
2) What kind of wood is on the top of the table?
3) Can I order 74 cm legs - I saw some information on the website about this? The legs we have are 70 cm and they are a little short for our chairs.
Thanks...
HW
