I am looking to buy a pole-mounted shelving system, mostly to hold books. I have come across two similar systems, Rakks and ISS, both essentially based on the George Nelson-designed CSS system for Herman Miller (now long out of production). See:

Hi, I actually purchased a shelf system from ISS Designs and was very happy overall. The items shipped undamaged from California to Florida and were fairly easy to install. Make sure you you use a level. 🙂 The spacers supplied to enclose within the rods seemed odd as they were nothing more than cut peices of PVC pipe...but they did the job. Once installed I thought they seemed a little wobbly, but when I began to actually put items (my MCM glass collection) on the shelves the tension created stability.
