I have some interest from Australia in a sectional sofa Im selling. I got a quote to ship it by part load but Im told it has to be shipped in a heat treated custom made crate as a part load consignment. The price of the crate is adding significantly to the price and potentially going to kill the sale...is there any way around this...can furniture be shipped to Australia uncrated in either cardboard or shrink wrapped ? Anyone here ever imported anything into Aus ?

I cannot answer your question, but I suggest that your ask John McCabe at Minima Design in New Zealand. I know him (he is very friendly) and he ships all over over the world from right next door. I am positive that he can give you a solid answer. Good luck.
