I am curious as to the potential appreciation of HW items considering that there is a co. making HW replicas. I really like the furniture and would buy either the older or newer models regardless, but wonder if the older pieces would always be held from obtaining a higher value then the replicas. Granted, the newer pieces are so expensive that I suspect the older versions would never reach that value anyway, at least in my lifetime.

Is there a difference in the quality or staining?

I suppose buying a unique older nonreplicated piece would be preferable to buying one that is still being produced. I like the idea of owning a unique older piece to that of owning a piece that anyone can buy off the shelf.

I wonder about this too
What company is making the replicas?
I find that HW is so undervalued, and not sure why. Maybe there was just so much made that it's too plentiful? And if more is being made now, makes it even worse.
I generally don't like most of the HW styles personally, but there are exceptions.

I have an end table. It's okay. Not my favorite. HW never really devoted themselves to modernism as a means of furthering design. They were modern "lite" and also never placed too much importance on the designer as a marketing tool. They make some well made furniture, and few pieces I really like. I believe they manufactured a limited run of very early Eames or Eames/Saarinen designed furniture. I forget where I read this.... I believe originally they were to produce the Organic Series that Eames/Saarinen designed for the MoMA competition. Ultimate it was too difficult to produce.
Other than that, there was very few instances of design stardom in that company ... I think Gilbert Rohde....
