Hi everybody! This is my first posting here and I'm hoping someone can help. I've recently found an eames shell chair that's upholstered. It's got the herman miller logo on the bottom and an "inspected by" label, but that's it. My question is... did they originally come with casters? This one has the four legs with casters on them, and I can't seem to find any info on them. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it.
P.S. I just recently scored a vintage LCW for $50 which is awesome for me because I'm in college studying interior design and it's my first significant piece!
to my knowledge
To my knowledge the only rolling version of the chair was a single pedestal base, with a four star base at the bottom. I glanced through the book Eames Design and havent seen any images of the base you describe. Post some photos if you can.
BTW - nice find with the LCW!
oops... a clarification...
after reading your reply I think I described it wrong. It has the single pedestal with the four star base. I've been looking around and have found some sort of like it, but the one I found has the larger ball shaped casters, not the small black wheel type. The person wants $125 for it and I'm wondering if that's a good price?
