Hello,
I have been looking at images of the Artemide Nesso lamp on the internet, and I have noticed that some appear to have very shiny/glossy lampshades and bases while others appear dull/matte. Were these lamps made in two different finishes, does the ABS plastic start out shiny when new and then become matte with age, or does one kind of finish betray a "fake?"
I searched this forum first but could not find an answer to this question. I apologize if it is a very basic question, but would greatly appreciate any information/advice.
Thank you so much!
Well..
I have seen them equipped both with dimmers and switches(either or) and I have seen both finishes that you mention. Since this lamp was manufactured for a very very long period of time, the finish from a newer one can be entirely different than the earlier one. It the sockets, switch and/or dimmer are correct than it is authentic. The replicas have cheap switches, probably a crappy dimmer and crappy sockets.
Thank you
Hello -
Thank you so much for weighing-in. I never thought to look at the sockets and switch/dimmer. That is a great point - I should go to a store that sells Artemide and compare the current model with the second-hand Nesso I have my eye on.
I am glad it seems reasonable then that there may be different finishes to the lamp over time.
Much appreciation and best wishes!
