Hi - Wondering if someone can answer this for me: are pieces like this cabinet currently on Ebay from the Thin Edge line or Basic Cabinet Series? I know that the Thin Edge line was available in rosewood, but this piece appears to be walnut and really isn't any different from the BCS cabinet except for the Thin Edge legs (and pull?). So I was curious, is this piece from the Thin Edge line, or is it BCS? Is the Thin Edge group only the rosewood pieces, and those pieces that are unique from the BCS like the jewelry chests and the bed? Or do Thin Edge pieces only have the white porcelain pulls?
(edited by DA - no link to ebay sales, thank you)
Thin-edge has thin edges ...
Not to be facetious, but the simple answer is that this unit is not from the "Thin Edge" line, because it does not have the thin edges (or, thin-appearing edges) distinctive of that line. This is a BCS cabinet, but paired with the aluminum cone legs (and knob) more typically associated with the Thin-Edge line, but which were also available for use on later BCS cabinets (it's not common to see such typical Thin-Edge associated hardware on BCS cabinets, but hardly rare).
Thin-Edge cabinets are most often seen in Rosewood, but were also available in walnut (and possibly teak?).
Thin Edge Pulls
The original rosewood cabinet series catalog says "pulls of black or white pocelain are pleasant to the touch." This suggests that the aluminum pulls were not originally offered. I think all the pieces in that catalog only have white or black pulls. Anyone have the scoop on when the alumnium pulls were offered and if they are original to rosewood thin edge cabinets? Thanks!
