The back of the chair has a ridge where I think the plywood is joined. There is a layer of fiberglass covering the ridge.
Was this done at the factory to hold the joint together and strengthen that stress point? It doesn't look that neat to me but all of these chairs that I've seen have this.

Thanks Amazake + close up of crack (not my plumber)
That's good to hear. I wish they had went up a couple of inches higher with the fiberglass as mine has a small crack just up from where it ends.

your chair and help?
Hi Cheesedanish,
I have a plycraft chair similar to yours and I am wondering if yours rocks and has a spring in the base?
Mine came without a spring and had a block of wood just holding it so it will swivel but not rock.
My husband is trying to fix it for me but we cannot find any information on the mechanism and how the spring was connected.
I am hoping to find someone who will be willing to help me by sharing a photo of the mechanism under the chair with a goos view of the spring.
Thank you!
