Hey guys, I need your opinions - I'm refurnishing my living room. I decided to sell my sofas and buy a wingback chair instead. First question would be - what do you think about the Queen Anne style chairs? They seem very royal to me, but on the other hand they may cause the living room look older than how it already looks (a picture of my living room is in the description). And if I do decide to go with the Queen Anee style, what color do you think is more suitable?I'm thinking Black or Traditional Red.Any suggestions? I hope this is not one of those trick questions, but if your aesthetic is toward the traditional style, the shape, proportions, details and craftsmanship of the chair are critical (the example you've shown seems off) Get to know your style (Queen Anne vs. Chippendale vs. later Victorian revivals vs. new reproductions). Look at good examples of the style from furniture history books, museum collections, you get the idea. Older or vintage examples (pre-foam era) are more likely to fit the descriptions I just mentioned. Avoid reproductions, unless it suit your needs.
Also, there is no shortage of vintage affordable examples around, finding what you NEED (vs. WANT) is not that difficult. But if you go the modern route, there are many styles and quality to choose from when it comes to new versions, just stay away from the trendy short lived ones. There are also several modern reinterpretations, from pedigreed examples like the Egg chair (Arne Jacobsen), Pelikan chair (Finn Juhl), wing chairs by Borge Mogensen and Gio Ponti or more recent ones like Antonio Citterio Grand Repos. There are also anonymous but well made vintage examples out there just waiting for you to be re-discovered. Keep it basic and simple. Good Luck.
The image above was taken from a 2011 blog entry by someone trying to sell their house, staging it with donated furniture. I think the OP post is someone trying to sneak in URL's for a furniture website. Not that anyone here is likely to be placing an order.

It seems that such commercial interlopers don't look closely to see if their product line fits the profile of the site they've targeted. There's virtually no discussion here of historic styles, for instance.
At WrightChat we've had a spate of these, lately; the most recent was a series of promos for UGG boots !
Ugh indeed.
