For the hard of thinking...
For the hard of thinking like yourself:
The manufacturers need no authorisation. The designs are in the public domain.
Could that be clearer ?
No doubt saps like you would be defending Vitra's position to the hilt if they decided to start charging $120,000 for their version. Ooohhh feel the quality, look at the heritage, for sure it is worth 120K. One born every minute !
no need for name calling
The Herman Miller and/or Vitra 670/671 design "is not" in public domain. I do believe that legitimate companies have a right and obligation to enforce their copyrights and they are free to charge whatever the market will pay. I do not support smuggling and tax cheats. Name calling would indicate a primitive and sub human nature (as well as a poor education and lack of vocabulary). I enjoy the less fortunate as they as so very easy to provoke.
I feel really fortunate to ba...
I feel really fortunate to bask in the glow of your evolved mind. What an honor.
To clarify, I would not feel ethically lessened by smuggling a chair illegally, no. It's a chair. How do you feel about illegal immigrants in the US? Do you feel that they should pay dearly for trying to better their lives? Where I live now, I rub elbows with many illegals immigrants. I feel no need to send them back because of big bad Uncle Sam's law. So why would I give a toss about a chair?
Come on, it's a stupid law. And I am more than willing to take "what comes around." Having real ethics means standing by what you believe. Any monkey can be trained to follow the rules.
And, it really is an honor. Can you enlighten us on how you came to this superhuman state of awareness and intelligence? Are you a Buddha?
You putting yourself above everyone else is just as bad as name calling. And in my mind, worse. It's disgusting narcissism. Go stroke your ego somewhere else, smarty pants.
I do not remember
I do not remember mentioning illegal immigrants, but as you brought up the subject they should clearly be immediately "evacuated" and given "special treatment" upon capture. Since you say you feel honored my thoughts for you would be "Kneel before your Master". I was correct in that you are easy to provoke.
Whitespike, I think I'd...
Whitespike, I think I'd enjoy to share a beer with you. Plain talking and clear thinking.
The 'Ark' - don't call us, we'll call you.
And FINALLY for the record let me re-state that the designs are in the public domain. They passed into open use 25 years after the design was recorded. Switzerland has an anomaly in that designs SOLD IN THE DOMESTIC MARKET are protected for 70 years after the death of the designer.
670 design recorded in 1956.
Charles Eames died in 1978. RIP.
You do the math, Buddha.
