Vatne 807
Hi everyone!
This loungechair is Vatne 807, designed by Fredrik A. Kayser and was made back in 1965. It was produced by Vatne Mobler in Norway. I am grandson of Knut Saeter, founder of Vatne Mobler back in 1946. Today the company is runned by my uncle, Per Arne Saeter. I have a few photos from the James Bond-movie "You Only Live Twice" with Sean Connery, with the highbacked chair + the 3-seater sofa featured from a scene in this movie. Plus i have the original brochure with the lowbacked chair + sofa. If you have any questions, i will be happy to answer all of you!

It looks like model "Kardinal"
Hi!
It looks like a chair edition of the "Kardinal" sofa designed by Sigurd Resell. I think i have som pictures in my archive a the Vatne Mobler factory. I am writing a book about the "Vatne-history" right now" Tge book will be ready this summer! I will get back to you in a few days!
Amund
Thank you!
Thank you very much! I am looking at selling my 2 chairs, from the tiny amount of information I have gained so far I assume not many were sold in the UK, making them very very rare UK pieces.
I am grateful for the further understanding I have of the history, of these chairs, I believe each chair shares some of the history of the people that sit on it.
They are extremly comfortable.
I will probably advertise them on a popular mainstream international auction site under the name 'Vatne Mobler'. Is this ok?
I may advertise them now and remove them if you reply asking me to. If that's ok.
Thank you very much.
Vatne 807 Forget black and tan, how about red?!
Hi all, I just found this website and thread while doing a search to try and find out more about my much-loved chair. I tried doing this a number of years ago but didn't find anything much, but you guys have answered my questions! thanks especially to Amund for great details. Sometimes I love the internet! I found my red treasure about 12 years ago at an auction house here in Sydney. Back then, at least in Australia, neither retro or modern design were very popular...and there were mostly dealers only at auctions, not punters like me! so, lucky me, I got the chair and matching footstool for $20! It has suffered somewhat from too much love and is now needing some leather repair but I'm struggling to find the right people to stabilise it, rather than try to make it new and bright red...anyway the search continues. In the meantime I shall fantasise about finding the sofa version that was posted here. If I can figure out how to add a photo here, will add one of mine - do I need to join / subscribe? Cheers Helen
Okay have now added pic but minus the matching footstool which I also have but it's in
another part of the house (our lounge room is too small for both). Not quite sure why I couldn't see the pic instructions, maybe because it was late and I'd been watching too much Olympics! Thanks to all.
