Hey guys,
I've been after an LC Chaise for a long time now. A friend of a friend recently offered to sell me theirs after hearing me talking about my desire for one. They inherited it form a relative who passed on but they don't like the style of it at all and are happy to part with it for quite a good price. No original receipts could be found, but apparently it wasn't bought that long ago.
Anyhow, I inspected it yesterday and it does appear to be an original, or at least has the cassina stamp on the base. However, I have to say, something doesn't seem right about the top half. I've closely inspected genuine one's before, and I swear some of the angles are off. It's very strange. I went to a store that sells genuine ones this morning for a fresh comparison and this further convinced me that while the base of my friend's chaise seems to be genuine, the top half appears as if it could be fake!
Very odd indeed. I decided a while back after inspecting all the reproductions I could find for sale that I have to have an original, so I don't want to buy this unless I am sure.
So my question is, does anyone know where I could get detailed dimensions for an original from? I've googled for ages but can't find anything. Even the cassina website only lists length and width dimensions and that's it. I want angles, length of each section of tubing, etc etc, so I can be 100% certain about whether this is the real thing or not.
Anyone have this info or know where I could get it?
I have a drawing
I have a drawing with all the measurements but I'm having trouble getting it uploaded. In the meantime here are the measurments. All measurements are as close as possible with a tape measure. Also - I'm measuring from the approx. center of curved areas.
First - the chaise part is stamped cassina under the chrome frame at the very top of the headrest area.
Moving horizontally along the outside edge of the chaise component.
From the very top of the headrest to the beginning of the curved rocker: 3.5"
From the angle under the neck area to the center support the length of the straight bar is 20.75"
From the center support (under where your butt would go) to the angle of the knee support: 18.5"
From the knee support to the bend in the footrest: 16"
From where the rocker intersects the footrest to the bend in the footrest: 7.75"
The cross-bars from one side of the chaise to the other are: 15 3/8" lower, 17 5/8" higher,
On all the cross bars (head, foot, higher, lower) there are welds in the dead center.
36 straps supporting the pad.
Thankyou!
Wow LuciferSum,
That is so helpful, thanks a heap!
Could I possibly trouble you for one more measurement? I wonder if you could tell me the straight line distance between the angle of the knee support to the angle under the neck area. This would allow me to check the angle of the main bend in the middle of the chaise. I find this is often part that is inaccurate in reproductions and in this case is the feature that immediately looked "wrong" to me and caused my suspicion.
Thankyou very much, even if you are unable to provide that additional measurement you've been extremely helpful.
I have a question about dimensions too
Hey, I've been looking at this piece of furniture recently also and there are huge inconsistensies in the reproduction versions. Could someone tell me how high the base should be? Like from the ground to the center of the cross pieces that the top part rests on? If anyone could tell me that it would really fantastic!
It's not mine yet, I'm gonna...
It's not mine yet, I'm gonna go measure it tomorrow. I must have overlooked you mentioning the cassina stamp under the head rest in your first reply. I actually wasn't aware that they have this, that will obviously be the easiest way to tell if it's genuine.
Thanks for all your help.
Hi there
I have a (knockoff) Corbusier pc and I need a new set of straps (at least from lower back area to knees ...
But the needed straps are different lengths and all I've found are same length straps.
Can anyone help me to buy the right ones / maybe suggest where I can get them (I'm in Germany).
Many thanks /pic of chair from below is attached.
