Today i purchased a danish modern chair at a yard sale for 5 dollars. I figured it would atleast be worth 50 or more so i purchased it. after some research i was convinced that it was a poul volther frem Rojle chair. it is stamped Frem Rojle on the bottom.

http://www.scandinavianmod.com/c028.htm

The chair i purchased looks exactly like the 370 chair however, instead of 4 spindles there is 5...and the back rest is a bit slimmer profile.

I am very concerned that this is a replica or fake from china but honestly the quality looks up to par. But i have been warned that fakes these days are hard to tell. The chair looks right down to a T but the 5 spindles thing makes me feel it is more than likely a fake...

either this is a fake or a rare 5 spindle model 370...

Do you guys know if its real....

(i know with eames chairs some times the 5 prong base means it is real and the 4 prong base means that it is a replica...)

any information would be greatly appreciated!!!

your welcome
it looks a lot better in person. woods nice and dark and the only imperfection is the water damage on the top of the seat. i refinish wood and know several other people who do for a living so im sure i can restore it but if it is fake i would like to not waste my time.
I really hope someone out there can help me...

I don't know....but I find...
I don't know....but I find it hard to imagine anybody would go to the trouble to fake a Frem Rojle chair.....especially a single one. I suspect that you simply have a version that came with 5, instead of 4 spokes. Either way, nice chair.

How much would you guys retail this at?

dude, come on
first the "please please somebody help", then the coy faux-casual "what's a good retail price?"--
it's a damaged mass-produced wooden side chair, so clearly you should start at $10 K or so--
sometimes I wish the term "mid-century modern" had never been coined.

WaywardVintage....
Don't take it personal. This place is filled with catty gay dealers who are bitter about the economy and like to pretend this place isnt actually used for valuation.

ahh yess because identifying someone as gay makes you a homophobe. My comment was lighthearted too, dont get your man-panties in a bunch. You see how that works?
