Wow, you guys are making this far too complicated
The original question was directed at quality. I want a good quality replica. I'm assuming the original specs are the gold standard. If you do a youtube search on barcelona chair repros there are quite a few videos which compare the workmanship of repros to licensed originals. None for the PK22
I couldn't care less about all the furniture snobs on here who look down on buying anything but the original. Do you think by chastising me that I'm going to change my mind? I already know what your responses are going to be. I just wanted responses which are on point without having to scroll through all the usual pontifications about buying the original.
Oh, btw I am happy to tell whoever comes over to my house that what they are sitting on is a replica. I just don't want the replica to fall apart while they are sitting on it!

Hmmm
If you already knew the kind of responses that you would get on here, why bother posting the question?
It's fairly clear that no one who frequents this forum would have the kind of information that you're looking for.

Well if you want quality
Get a metal fabricator to build you a stainless steel frame. And an upholsterer to stitch you a cover.

How does buying a piece of second hand furniture benefit the designer? When it's sold second hand vintage, he isn't going to receive a share of the profits.
When you buy a used book the author doesn't get royalty.
I am all for buying original and agree with all the arguments. But with mid century furniture prices being what they are, is it really necessary to come down this hard on someone? Even going to second and third tier designers these days isn't doing people any good. Prices are high across the board. Maybe he'll get some vintage and some knock off and live with that until he can afford the real thing. Maybe he needs chairs now and doesn't want to wait a couple of years until he comes across the real thing at a good price.
I myself am not a purchaser of knock offs. I'd live without first. But I am more sympathetic I guess to the people who don't have the time or money to put forth towards acquiring vintage furniture. I think the fact that the person is here reading and educating himself gives me hope that one day he hopes to possess the real thing but just can't right now.

OLB,
I'd look on you tube at videos showing the differences between the fakes and authentic Le Corbusier and Barcelona chairs, etc. I think it would be somewhat the same. Quality of leather, stitching, welding, end caps, chrome versus cheaper base metala.
I imagine it would be a hard thing to buy on line well. The difference between good leather and bad can not be felt on line.
