Hello all! I recently acquired this chair and had it refinished and new cushions made. The original seller thought it was a Finn Juhl design (not sure why, exactly), but I have researched it further and it does have some of his hallmarks - the little "horns" at the top, the curved back, triangular sides, and lock system for assembly. Of course, there is no label; just the number "16" stamped into several pieces. It is exceptionally well made, with amazing craftsmanship throughout. Just wish I knew more about it's provenance! Any ideas?

So the chair is styled after the egyptian chair.
Finn juhl designs are heavily documented and especially those made by master cabinet niels vodder. The egyptian chair does not exist as a easy chair.
The fact of knock down design is also something that vodder chairs dont do.
The chair is stylish and most likely made in denmark around the early 1950s but could come from any industrial source, hence the knock down.
Huge numbers pack and can be sent without loosing space.
Are there any marks, however faint in the frame?

Hi there!
Thanks for your comments, most helpful! 🙂
The only marks on the frame are the number "16" stamped into the wood on a 2-3 of the pieces. Any thoughts?
Thanks again!

Looks like Arne Vodder to me. You might try to research there.
