Greetings,
I've had this piece in the collection for a few years. This was a thrift store find and it reminded me of something I'd seen before. It is a tight and well composed textile (hook loop?) piece. It is gallery framed and has a gallery label: Adobe East, 329 Millburn Ave., Millburn, NJ 07041, there is also a phone number which I have called only to receive a fast busy. Does anyone have any idea of whose work this may be or does anyone have info on the listed gallery?
Thanks in advance!
I grew up in Short Hills,...
I grew up in Short Hills, and my mother was an excellent needlepoint sewer. She bought the yarn and canvases from a woman in Short Hills who painted the designs to be sewn. In fact, the woman would go through art books to find paintings that served as her inspiration. My mother did a needlepoint that is very similar to what you photographed, so I guess that this is the answer to your question. My mother died many years ago, so I can't supply any more information.
Thanks
podboy -- I admire the work of V Vasarely and hadn't seen the three pieces you show. He has done some really eye-popping "op art" paintings and prints.
Of particular interest to me, however, are his bas-relief wall pieces, which present evolving or morphing images as the viewer moves from right to left and vice versa. I don't know if these have been photographed successfully. . .
