We have a 1950s France & Son Danish sofa set that we'd like to reupholster in a color and fabric that matches that era. Novices to interior decoration, we'd like to ask for advice!

We thought of the Kvadrat Tonica fabric, all wool, in either red or a cream (see photos).

Cream: this is a neutral color and complements the teak frame and might brighten the (dark) room. The problem is that it may be too close to the color of the rug. Is that a problem? (And it might get dirty quicker).

Red: we thought this was a nice hue (with small flecks of black), and might warm up the room. But is it too intense for a large surface area? Do either of these colors fit the design/time?

Any advice appreciated -- or else suggestions of other fabrics/colors!

Thank you!

Hi
The beige fabric is nice. Personally, I would go with leather.

Love the red!
It will warm up the room nicely, pick up the wood grain and highlights, and will be less vulnerable to soil, etc. You needn't have much more than a painting or a pillow with some red elsewhere in the room to tie it in.
