Are you
confident that it dates from the mid-century period ?

Thats definitely Teak.
It...
Thats definitely Teak.
It also doesnt look like a desk, unless the camera lens is messing with the proportions. How tall is the top surface?

Did you guys miss the part...
Did you guys miss the part where I referred to the proportions of the first photo? It looked very tall in the first image, probably an optical illusion. It looked more like a bar unit to me in the photo.
40 years ago would place it right in the early 1970's.
Dont think that decade would still be considered mid-century modern.
It looks like the drawer on the left is missing its base.
If it was designed that way, I would venture to say this was not very high-end.

Doesn't look '70's to me
Even if the previous owner says he bought it "40 years ago": A) he may have bought it secondhand, and B) as people age, they have a queer way of accidentally telescoping time. I do so myself, thinking that such-and-such song or movie is "about 10 years old"... when in fact, it's more like 20 YEARS OLD. Time flies.
This desk looks mid-50's, to me.

the left drawer doesn't have...
the left drawer doesn't have a base like the right one, both sides are veneered though, probably it's designed that way, does an asymmetrical design automatically disqualify as high end? just asking, i'm not an expert
