Those
who don't eat meat or declaw their cats should not judge those who do. None of us thought this up; it was the vet who suggested it and assured us that it's safe, doesn't hurt too much, and makes for a happy cat (as well as neutering and spaying).
It have a brother and sister cat from the same litter who are now 16 yo and are both front paw declawed and fixed, and believe me, they have led happy lives.

shescomeundone & barrympls,
Should you not be able to repair or restore any damage to your possessions due to a pets natural instincts because of limited intellect (you did not know a cat had claws prior to its acquistion) or low financial standing (repair cost is an issue) perhaps a choice between your pets or your pathetic holdings is in order. How sad that anyone would place a greater value on goods over a pet.

Here is a pic of Benson (aka BennyBoy) claws and all. Luckily , he claws at the door frames and not really much on the furniture. Nothing a bit of paint can't fix. I have tried to use soft claws on him, but he fights back. He's normally really cuddly and loves to be held but he does not like having his claws touched. It's a trial even trimming his claws. I quit using the soft claws after he gave me a nice gash on my arm. He was put into timeout for that one...lol. I would love something that would make him docile during his claw-trimming time. I would even start using soft claws again.
