Afternoon all.
I have what I think is a fairly low ceiling - 240cm high. Would pendant lights, in low traffic areas look ok? If I hung them with a short chord (say...15cm) and chose a pendant that's short and flat?
There are so many MCM pendants that I love, but I'm worried it will look ridiculous with a short chord. Or I'll have tall friends ducking to avoid them 🙂
Has anyone installed pendant lights on a ceiling this low? Pictures please!! Would really value everyone's opinion.

It's a long, narrow room. One end is the kitchen the other two thirds is a living area. The front door open directly to this room. The pictures are from both ends.

Hi.
Pendants hung over the kitchen island would look great. Flush mount or recessed lighting would be best for all other areas. And I like your cat.
Best,
Aunt Mark

Hi, you should take a look at the link below:
http://www.danish-lights.com/.
It will give you some idea as to how the designers envisaged their designs being
used.Most pendant lights are on longer cords to be placed over tables, so they are at eye level and as such your ceiling height should work.
Looking at the photo of your space I can see two areas you could hang pendant lights with a longer cord;
-over the bar counter
-above the dining table
Glass pendant lights( holmgaard etc.) look great hanging low, in a corner,above a side table for example and give a lovely ambient light.
Lexi.
