imagine my walking into the 9th. Avenue Sally's in Chelsea, New York City (in early 1994), and finding a real Saarinen oval Tulip side table for $15.00!
Things like that, along with missing goodies, happen alot.

I missed an early Eames...
I missed an early Eames aluminum group 48" table today for only $150. Not exactly fifteen bucks, but it was mint and that's a good deal for any well designed dining table. You can spend more on particleboard from Ikea. Phooey.

Fricking timing, yes. Timing, the punchline to one of my favorite jokes, which requires that you ask your jokee to ask you (err me) "what is it that makes your jokes so damn funny", at which point you yell out when she gets to about the word "so"

Hans Wegner Papa Bear Chair/Ottoman
Flea Market - Women yelling out $25.00 chair/ottoman not knowing what it was thought it looked weird. Later found out it was a Hans Wegner Papa Beach Chair with Ottoman...... Taking about missed opportunities!!!

I saw a nice white Colombo...
I saw a nice white Colombo Boby in a dumpster driving by, but when I made a turn at the next crossing and returned just a few minutes later it was gone.

Craigslist hunting...
has proven very good to me. I've picked up an early Eames fiberglass side chair in excellent condition for $50 and an early 54" Eames Aluminum Group round table with Walnut veneer for $85. I guess living in West Michigan also helps...
