I am having paranoia about a Womb Chair I purchased over Ebay.I am slated to pick it up tomorrow. When I pulled the trigger and did the Buy It Now, I was confident of its authenticity.;now I am(hopefully needlessly) worried that it may not be a genuine Knoll.(It is Ebay completed item #110214006578).The chair is Cayenne Red,and has the little hooks/tabs to hold both cushions in place, and truly looks correct. However, there are no Knoll tags.I am just worried because there are so many repros out there in Red!!I do not want to pay big bucks for a fake.I'm relying on the DA community to ease my paranoia and set me straight. Thanks in advance, gents!

Frame signature
Olive, does your base have the Saarinen/Knoll stamped into it? If yes, where is it located?

Stamp
Looks like the stamp in the center back of the base, look where the two bars are parallel with each other.

The implicaton is...
that this seller bought from someone who had it on an office. How old is the chair?
I don't think they've been doing knockoffs for very long.

Looks like Knoll fabric for...
Looks like Knoll fabric for sure. I see Knoll Boucle fabric, which is more cozy than wool.
Its hard to tell 100% from the poor photos. I think if you want to be sure, you would look at the edge stitching on the thin edge of the shell. It could have been made from the 1990's thru today. Its not 50s, 60s, or 70s production, but the good news its probably got new urethane foam, which is good.
The repro wombs I have seen make me puke. This didn't so I say its real Knoll.

NICE PHOTOBUCKET,DONSOF!
Great shots-the older wombs make me drool, but try and find one that doesn't need complete refurbishing.Well, anyhow,I went to NYC and picked up the Womb and it is awesome and it IS authentic. You should see the Brownstone it came out of.In the middle of the living room there was a 3 foot Nelson Bubble Saucer lamp which would make your jaw drop.We had to rassle it down 3 floors, but the chap was most cooperative. The chair has the loop Boucle cloth, which is in real nice shape indeed.Perfect color harmony with my Danish Ege Rya!I'm exhausted, but happy. Thanks for your support, gents!
