I am planning to do the work...
I am planning to do the work myself. The only upholster I know who I'd trust to be be sufficiently perfectionist is too busy and too far away.
And. Don't want a thin fabric. I've used a thin sateen before and am only half happy with the results.
This original twill weave fabric is not at all thin.
I like it because the weave is tight enough that it doesn't have the rough, scratchy hand of Hallingdal, Tonus, and Tonica. Topas is wool, and has a decent hand, but looks extremely synthetic.
Knoll's cameo has a very nice hand and plain weave, but it is cotton, and has a rather limited color selection.
Have a look
At the closest to the original.
Try byron from gabriel.dk or basic from danish art weaving.
Both are very good wools.

Always check the martinedale abbrassion. Dont both with anything under 40000.

Have to disagree about Tonus--
it feels very soft to me, and most wools feel scratchy to me.
Topas is a fine crepe weave; it does look like the very popular synthetic crepes used on inexpensive office furniture but it's an excellent fabric on the right piece (but not at all what you want).
-----+++++
I'd love to see/feel one of these in MOHAIR but I don't think that would work with the seams among the buttons; there would be too much of a pile to keep the tailoring clean and free of lumps. I suppose the style is really only suited to flatter pile fabrics because of this, but I still see the shape and want mohair on it!
