A friend of mine has launched a gorgeous range of 60s inspired thin wire outdoor furniture (in white or black). I suggested he call it the Palm Springs Collection, because it would look so damn swellegant around the Kaufmann House pool. Now he wants me to come up with names for each piece in the collection, and I thought about assigning names inspired by Palm Springs itself. Examples might include: The Las Palmas, the Alejo, The Manilow, The Shulman, The Alexander, the Sinatra.

What do you guys think??? And please be constructive. I know there's a couple of you out there in design addict cyberspace who can be quite cruel.

How about;
Since I haven't seen them, here's some suggestions:
the Monroe
the Van Doren
the Mansfield
the Dagmar
the Russell
am I leaving out any other 1950's Actresses with big teats?

adding images
In the form to post your messages, you will find three fields called "associated web images" that you can use to post images.
No need for fancy codes, no tags like: img src or [img etc.
Just post the simple url of your image in these fields.
example:
As a reminder, if you dont have your own website, there are many sites that can host your images very easily.
Here are a few:
Photobucket http://photobucket.com (free)
Picasa http://picasa.google.com/ (windows only, free)
.mac http://www.mac.com (mac only, fee applicable)

the two finest areas in ...
the two finest areas in the Palm Springs area today are Rancho Mirage, and Palm Dessert,
Perhaps another great name for the outdoor furniture might be the Dessert collection .
The mountains are called the coachilla mountains,
Sunnylands owned by the Walter Annebergs is the other great home,
Barry Manalow i would not waste my time with him, as he really was nothing in Palm Springs,
Want more just ask.

If you?re going for that...
If you?re going for that vibe how about an acronym of Palm Springs followed by a number (like the case study houses CSH 21) something like PS15,PS16 I know the CSH programme was more LA but hey it?s not to far away :p
As far as towns / areas in the Coachella valley I much prefer North Palm springs, it has that great mix of open desert landscape and modernist buildings that looks so great, for me the further you go down the valley the more diluted this becomes,

Just be careful of copyrights...
I can't imagine that Julius Schulman wouldbe all that thrilled to have a chaise longue named whilst he's still amoung us on the corporeal plane!

Whats in a name?
The number system is not good from a market stand point too dry,too intellectual,KNOLL moved away from that to calling a chair:CESCA after BREUERS daughter. The stars are too remote from the market today, lotsa kids hardly know those names?Plants or places esp the exotic names seem better...plants esp. play into the GREEN theme of today? But whats a blue chicken know?:)
