Palm Springs Hotel recommendation?

Can anyone recommend a place (hotel/motel) convenient for downtown that has fun design and furnishings?

Orbit
We have always stayed at 'The Hotel California' though not for any MDC inspired touches. Just a great place downtown. If you can get in the The Orbit Inn. Their name says it all...

I've stayed at the Orbit Inn a couple of times...
and I thought that it was kind of cool...in a "mod" Palm Springs sort of way.
Why not?

Hey nut...
How did you get out of there?
I heard you can check into the hotel california anytime you like, but you can never leave.
Secret window in the bathroom or something? Just curious in case I decide to go someday.

The Chase!
We stayed at The Chase a few years ago and loved it! The Parker is also gorgeous as we walked the grounds. Everything there is Eye Candy" I believe
the design renovation was by Jonathan Adler. Very cool and hip nestled on several acres!
