Hello, I've picked up this possible Breuer Wassily chair recently; I'm not sure if it's legit though. It has concave chrome end caps, the leather is stitched end to end, chrome colored hex screws and also uses tiny small black inset hex screws joining the two halves together on the bottom base rail. Chair has slight slant too. What do you think? The chair shows lots of age, but is still in good condition; leather is thick and appears to be original. Came out of a great collection with other known authentic pieces (plycraft Cherner Pretzel chairs, Royal Dux, and others.) Thanks!

Thanks. So is it an unauthorized knockoff or different manufacturer other than Knoll? What are the characteristics of the Gavina produced Wassily's? Thanks in advance.

if the chair has end caps...
if the chair has end caps than it's not authentic. Authentic chairs end caps are not caps but welded and polished so there is no appearance of a cap.

end caps were the dead give away. I never really understood until I finally saw one in person that was real and there is definitely a huge difference in quality.

Yes, I believe they do - or at least did. We have a few and they have the gun metal hex bolts. Though the giveaway would be the caps well beyond the hex bolts.
