By the way their is also an awesome funiture store in miami currently that has four orange slice chairs exactly like these for sale.
They are on cosignment from an important singer.
The ones from ebay look exactly the same.
I am a novice, so through my research I have found that licensed reproductions are make by : Artifort and have a plate at the bottom of the chair.
These obviously do not so i am not sure if the are really or maybe originals.
Also does anyone know of someone in miami that is a furniture authenicator???? Similiar to an art consultant?
I think it is better to pay a few dollars up front before making a stupid novice mistake and getting stuck with something that is fake!!!
Thanks again!!!!
Patience
Please be patient when soliciting opinions on the forum. Many of us have a lot going on and don't sit around here waiting for people to ask for authentication on eBay auctions.
Now I could be wrong, but if I had to guess from the photos and info in that auction, I'm skeptical that they are authentic. Here is why. I've had an authentic Artifort orange slice chair (damn was that that chair comfortable! As were all the Paulin pieces I've had. He knew not just sculpture, but ergonomics. I wanted to keep that chair. But you can't keep it all, and I'm digressing). It's my understanding that Artifort has always been the licensed manufacturer. I don't know if it has been in and out of production or if they have constantly produced the chair. There are some copies or knock-offs out there. Some are so bad you can spot them a mile away. Some are really close.
The things that make me question these chairs are the pitch of the back legs (they seem too straight, not splayed enough front to back), the foot (I think that the black plastic should wrap around the foot and be rounded, not just cover the bottom and the seat back. The weld at the foot also looks a little coarse),the seat back looks bit flat and it it touching the seat bottom. There should be a gap or a space between. Perhaps when they were reupholstered, they were put back on wrong. But it (along with the other issues) makes me question the chairs. I think that if I could see them in person, I might be able to tell better. Generally there are other signs of age (wear to the bottom of the feet, oxidation to the metal, etc) that give you a good idea if something is from the 1960s, the 1990s or the 2000s.
I'm sorry if I can't give you a definitive answer, but maybe I've been of some help. I'd suggest doing a google image search and seeing if things line up for you when you compare the vintage chairs with the ones in the auction.
Good luck!
Here are
the specs from the Artifort website, in cms, sorry.

thank you!!!!
I appreciate all your information. I love the chairs but sometimes to much of a good deal really isnt a good deal. I want to avoid purchasing anything that is fake.
I wonder if their is a website that deals with authentication of furniture or if their is an online consultant that you can pay a fee for thier expert opinion. I have seen this service for other items, ike clothing and purses.
It is better to speand alittle up front and not make a huge mistake later!!!!!
Well if anyone would be some kind, the auction ends in two days and I would greatly appreciate your input.
