I kinda like
I kinda like the idea of "kick the can" or "kick the bucket" although they have radically different meanings 🙂 If you go in that direction perhaps define the object a little more, either in can or bucket shape (the bucket handle could be a nice addition hanging down)
If you are keeping as is my only suggestion would be to push the preciousness of the metal - high high polish, to contrast the seeming 'trash' ness of it.

To carry Lucifersum example a little more, perhaps the on/off mechanism could be activated by twacking the lamp, much the same way a bucket or can is kicked.
Quite fun I think...however the novelty would wear off in time.
