Just curious how comfortable this chair is - the pics on the web that I have found are all standalone, but is it practical as a chair to lounge in, or is it more sculpture? Where would you place this piece, it almost demands its own place in the room, doesn't it? Any opinions, especially from owners, much appreciated, thanks!

A friend has one, comfort,...
A friend has one, comfort, not really...but the cat loves it...the quality of the fiberglas is fantastic so silky...he has it in front of industrial sash windows.

this same question had been asked before. find the link below. I tried one before. Not comfy at all. Kinda gotta be the exact proportion for your legs to fit properly on the extended part.

Great deal!
I've tried one out a few times and was surprised that it wasn't painful to sit in. I'd call it a place to sit and not lounge. Great looking, great price and a piece of design history. Worth getting. I have no place for one in my house, but at 70% off, i'd question the need for a bed!

i have just really gotten to...
i have just really gotten to the point where i can't fathom investing money in something that is not a pleasure to USE. that's just me. i lived for years with pieces that pleased my eyes and bruised my bum. on the other hand it sounds like a great deal. at that price you could probably resell if you got tired of it ... and maybe at a profit.

70% discount really good, but..
I sense that you are trying to persuade yourself into buying it? if you really liked it you would have bought it straight away (i would have done so if i liked it..which i dont), forget the discount and ask yourself if you really would have bought it at full retail..its only a good deal if you would have. If you do i hope you enjoy it anyway.

Thanks all... it comes down...
Thanks all... it comes down to a question of space after all, and as much as I love the way it looks, I can't imagine where exactly I would have space for it. So I'm going to pass on this item, but if anyone would be interested, and can figure out a way to ship it from Hong Kong, its a genuine Vitra that was only used in a model flat, asking just a bit over US$2k. Someone with more living space than me will find a home for this beauty.
