HI all,

We bought a Gunni Omann model 18 sideboard a few months back. It is Rosewood & quite glossy (like the image below).

A friend put his cold beer on top & made a ring mark. I also think I should give the piece a clean (and oil?) as there are a few oily fingerprint marks on it.

A Danish antique dealer once showed me how to use soap flake home-made mix to clean, with steel wool, then apply oil, but this was to a less-glossy Teak piece.
I'm not sure if the Omann is oiled and if I should use the soap flakes..

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks kindly,
Adam

Lightly clean it with...
Lightly clean it with Murphy's oil soap with a wash cloth. Polish with bees wax furniture polish and #0000 steel wool in the direction of the grain.

I have an Oman Junn teak hutch and it was oiled.
Have you tried the trick of lifting water marks with a hot iron and t-shirt? Put t-shirt down and hot iron...takes moisture out. I have done it. Google it on apartment therapy.
Also-I've had luck getting marks like this out with magic erasers.
