.....still in deep doo doo ??
i've noticed that there are no longer any cherner chair products on DWR's website, nor is there any cassina le corbusier, flos, heller, and even the unbiquitous bubble lamps seem to be in short supply at DWR.
whats the dealio ?

Tired of speculation.
Chewbacca - as I read your posts I have to wonder what YOUR dealio is. Your posts seem to alternate between legit design-related postings, and re-hashed posts about the evils of DWR. Now, I'm not happy that they are making copies of the Bellini chair, but I also don't hold a personal vendetta against the company... do you?
I hadn't noticed the lack of Corb, but International Style isn't really my thing. I would take a gander that, because Cassina and Flos are owned by the same people, there is probably some correlation as to why both are absent from DWR's web page. Unlike the Nelson lamps. Which - contrary to your ominous ruminations - are still present. As is the Heller dinnerware. Or didn't you check those things before posting?
Who knows exactly what is going on with DWR? I don't. And you certainly don't seem to have anything besides insinuation and rumors.
In the meantime this schadenfreude-fest is getting tiresome. If you don't like DWR - fine - but clam up about it. I will never own a Chevy but that doesn't mean I'm happy GM is struggling. Like it or not any American company represents American jobs. Spreading rumors and taking pleasure in the (real or perceived) demise of an American company is demoralizing and excessive at this juncture.

my dealio.........
my dealio is morbid fascination.......
the company has never really been profitable, it's stock is hovering around .65 cents a share, they cryptically announced quite sometime ago something about an offer to buy them, the CEO posts a weird open letter to address rumours which only serves to fan the flames and open more questions than it answers, then one of their vendors start suing them and other vendor's products disappear from their site.
i did check on the bubble lamps prior to posting..... go ahead and pretend you are going to buy one.... most are not available to ship. as for heller, they must have left over stock of the dinner wear..... i couldn't imagine heller shipping them product after the knock-off controversy and ensuing legal action.
i'm not trying to spread rumours.... just rather curious about whats going on...... but since it seems no one else is curious, and it is annoying you Lucifer.... i will take your advice and clam up about DWR pending any further postings from other members.
perhaps i can find some good old-skool soap opera to watch on television to quench my thirst for melodrama until the other shoe drops. dynasty ? flamingo road ? dallas? 😉

You could try some...
You could try some Telenovelas for a change?
Don't ask, I don't watch them.

telenovela ???
never heard of them..... sounds interesting.
for the record i do not think it would be a good thing for Design Awareness in general if DWR went away, or changed their format to sell only watered down in-house designs.
a lot of credit is due DWR for increasing design awareness in the united states.

not that anyone cares.......
but DWR released its 1st quarter 2009 financial report today and it appears that sales were down 27% and there was a loss of $6 million from january 1st - april 4th.
just reporting the dry facts. no other commentary from this ol' rug.

I SURE HOPE, that you didn't STEAL THIS INFORMATION from a sales associate whose valuable time would have been better spent continuing to surf the internet!

I might have said this before
but DWR is trying to be all things to all people, and alot of people who want new MCM at reasonable prices are going to bypass DWR and buy online where you don't have to pay tax or shipping charges.
With all their bricks and mortar stores, I think DWR's salvation should be getting exclusive rights to lines that are not easily found online.
Artek, for example.
Perhaps DWR should even make arrangements with Herman Miller, Vitra or Knoll (who they are dealers for) to arrange for some classic reissues available nowhere else.
Heck, if DWR got permission to sell the Vitra George Nelson tray table (which has not been available in the US for over 10 years), wouldn't they sell a few hundred of 'em?

taking on water..........
at this point my feeling is that gaining access to exclusives won't save DWR .... they've had plenty of exclusives in the past.... it appears that the hole they have dug for themselves is pretty large and it will take alot more than selling a few 100 nelson tray tables to right the ship.
my feeling is that opening almost 70 stores is the weight that could sink the ship.
(as for artek there are folks already selling it)

It's deeper than that!
I emailed DWR twice within the last 3 weeks requesting pricing for new Knoll Tulip Chair Cushions. As I write I never received a reply!
