the herman miller and the ...
the herman miller and the vitra are the same the herman miller one has the name etched in the glass., and is a nice touch from all the other ones that you can buy for 300.00 bucks on the internet from China, but in there defense i have seen lots of the Chinese tables and they do look like dead ringers in black , but no one makes a walnut base as beautiful as Herman miller/ vitra.

There are differences
I know I am resurrecting an old thread, and as a new member too! I did however come across this thread when I was looking to buy my coffee table and feel the following adds to the topic:
The Vitra model has a bevelled glass edge, and the signature is on the underside of the glass surface on the corner opposite the long edge along with the words 'Vitra Design Museum'. The base has no marking.
I believe the Herman Miller version has a flat cut edge, the signature is on the edge of the glass (better place to put it in my opinion); and I believe the base has some sort of medallion, under which the facsimile signature is also present.
