I recently bought an original Cassina LC4 Chaise longue from Le Corbusier. It seems to be quite a special purchase, because it has never been used for about 25-30 years since it was bought of the first owner. It was only shown in an entrance, without any natural light. The ponyskin looks like new. It has everything, the marks and even the original Cassina tag - now my questions:
1.) With a 14'000 serial number, is it really 25-30 years old, or even older?
2.) The former owner told me, that this chaise longue was even at the time he bought it, a special one, because it shows the original branding marks on the black ponyskin (letters "AY$2 - about six inch high, located by the feet). Does anyone have ever seen something like that before?
3.) I already had a few words with some furniture addicts about this LC4 - What do you think about the value of such a LC4
Thank you very much for some answers upon my request!

serial number
serial numbers really do not mean a whole lot,
serial numbers are broken up in regions, and countries of origin.
so if Cassina has a factory in Italy, and one in South America
They will bare separate numbers. very rarely will one start with 1 unless they are a prototype to see how production is going.
Dear LRF
Thank you for your explanations... I'm sorry, but I am a real newbie on vintage furniture...
...as a neighbour country of Italy (Switzerland), I suppose, it came out of the italian factory. I also know, that it was bought in the city, I live nearby. Therefore I called two retailers and they import their Cassina furniture from Italy.
Tomorrow I will take some pictures of the Serial number and the Cassina tag. Maybe this will bring us a little bit further.
Thank you all for your help!
