I don't generally like the...
I don't generally like the idea of color/finish changes, Gustaf. My sense is that most designers are very conscious of color as an aspect of production.
As seen here in some of the photos, it appears to me that certain objects can be more compromised/diminished than others by decisions regarding color.

What an insult to such a beautiful design! That is VILE! Having moved to Santa Fe, I am now particularly hating turquoise! But MAN! That looks hideous!

If it is done with great respect and in the manner of the original creator I think it's ok - here we see examples where I think that is the case (the AJ lamps), and where it is just taking the piss.. unworthy.

The odd thing for me, is that these are all *licensed* products. That Carl Hansen approves is just strange.. I forget to include the link earlier.
