new lcw
I just got the new yellow lcw and I love it . It is really yellow analine dye and has a great look I did not realize how small it was and I found a new home in the den It is more of a piece of art than a sitting chair
we must honor charles Eames on his 100th birthday. Kinda like the great seal at your high school that you would never walk over. this one we will never sit in..

i hear you it's in a room with a eames lounge chair 670 and 71 A B big sofa
two Milo Baughmans a Dunbar lamp table and a baker coffee table. I put it in the corner cause i would sit on the sofa or the milos first and have to have 25 people before we call it up the LCW for active duty ...
I just looked at it again it really is cool they did a great job with the yellow dye job, Now I need to buy the purple, orange, lime green, I think someone is trying to tell us something with these wild colors ?????
They delivered it right on time.
Who did you order it from and how much is it more for the dye chairs. I don't seem to be able to find any websites offering them except exit-art.com for $749. Have a can of Raid handy for those pesky people always wearing pants that will scratch it. Congratulations on the new chair!
james sdr thanks
I ordered direct from Herman Miller as i have a account with them . I was surprised to see when i ordered that they do charge a 100 up charge for the aniline dye,
I have a great friend that works for Herman Miller and she said there status is commemorative, for the Eames 100 th birthday. If the chairs in colors do good they will keep it in the line , if not they will be back for our grandchildren and become a collectable for ebay
answer this one
I am at a loss for words, very rare as most of you know . are these LCW notorious for scratching? I am approaching owning most of the of the original mid century designers but i always avoided picking up LCW and estate sales and shows cause i really was not that crazy about the camel color but i have been reading theads about chairs
scratching and hard to repair does any one know if these LCW scratch real easy or just scratch like the rest with guys and gals were belt buckels that have glankey metal ,
In our new home we wanted to be differnt so we had mabel plank wood
through out the house , and the first day out my lovely wife in her high
heel pradas put nice clete marks on the floor (one shoe had the heel pad off to my horror) so i think i get the picture on softwood i just did not know about this chair,
Maple
is or should be the hardest floor wood there is (well maybe lignum vitae or bubinga are harder) so you did as well as you could. The good side is that maple "puffs up" real well with water or steam (if you can get through the finish) so dents (not scratches) will come out fairly easily. . .
All wood scratches -- but a lot of the time it is just the finish that is damaged. Emergency repair: nose oil (from the side of your nose) ! Oil, wax or furniture polish can make minor finish scratches (almost or completely) disappear.

They do scratch
Like previously mentioned all wood will scratch, as will glass, plastic, and most metals. Part of that becomes the natural patina of the piece, unless it is really deep. I put a coat of paste wax on all my wood furniture before using it and that seems to help.
The other thing is to understand what pieces of clothing will affect the wood. The LCW hits you low in the back and has a broad seat - just kindly remind people that metal studded belts or jeans with rivets on them will hurt your chair. Altho you are in less danger because you have the dyed version. The current red and black versions will chip, leaving white primer underneath.
