Congrats Barry
Seems your phone calls to Herman Miller may have done the job. A little bird told me that they will be reissuing some of the Nelson case goods.

Very interesting, Pegboard...
Although I hope the quality will be better than the Swag(ged) Leg Series re-editions.

My original inquiry
to Herman Miller was because in the otherall sceme of things, the two types of furniture not being produced much these days are bookshelves and chests of drawers....at least for those who want quality mid-century modern design.
Since both of the bookshelves and chests of drawers use the same basic structure, I suggested to them that they might be able to reissue 4 or 6 sizes and make them available either in a chest or bookshelf format.
I sure do like my two vintage chests of drawers, but I don't much care for the 'vintage' condition of them!
There's a number of people producing high quality modern beds...it would be nice to see chests and bookshelves also being made available.
By the way, what is wrong with the swag leg reissues?

I don't like that HM uses lighter finishes than the vintage examples. Gr.

Two points
Those vintage pieces with the Primavera finish are probably darker than they were in 1947-1952.
Second, the lighter birch-y finishes (like the Nelson bench) are much more popular to those buying something than vintage, so I perfectly understand their color-tone decision.

They don't compare favorably to the originals, barry...
Aside from the dining table(which I've actually thought about purchasing), the Swag Leg Series almost look like knockoffs to me. The miniature chest and the chairs are absolutely dire.

Getting back to the "new"
storage bookshelves and chests of drawers, I called HM for the home and although they could not officially confirm anything, something very close to what we thought will be premiered at the NY furniture show in late May.
So, it looks like it's gonna be a reality!
In this case, since I'm moving into a 4 bedroom house, I will be buying one or two of them depending on their price.

The benches look good
... but the case goods do look a bit weird. They put a pull that was primarily used for the thin edge group on them and I don't think the two small size cabinets were originally offered. The proportions look a little clunky to me.

Yeah the pulls look off and the wood is different. Daniel Donnelly does a much better job IMO. But if they don't sell well they'll blame the market ... not their lack of attention to detail...
