Im stuck in Northampton Mass and am looking for a road trip tomorrow. New Canaan is about 2.5 hrs south of here...Can anyone tell me of it is worth the drive to have a look at the modern houses that it's famous for? Can most be seen from the street? Anything closer I may want to have a look at modern house wise?
I have no problem driving 2-3 hours as long as traffic doesn't enter into it too much.
Gropius House.
Great area, too. Lots of historic sites nearby:
Old North Bridge, Walden Pond, DeCordova Museum, etc.

I was recently there to do...
I was recently there to do the Glass House/property tour (a story for another day) . Saw some great modern houses, also driving around. Much easier to see now that the leaves are down. I've heard that Jack Trifero driving tours are good. I have linked his sight below. I have no affiliation whatsoever and am not posting this as advertising. If against furum rules, someone speak up and I will edit.

The DeCordova is literally another 5 minutes up the road
and worth the stroll around the grounds on a nice day. Concord Center offers convenient dining and shopping options. I'd contact the Gropius House to reserve a spot on a tour in advance, though.
Mass Pike to 95 is the fastest route. Probably about 2 hours one way. Traffic shouldn't be too bad on a Sunday.
Have fun and check in with a report!

Yes there are...and I've...
Yes there are...and I've been stuck in them all:)
I meant stuck in the sense that I didn't make it home for the weekend...Northampton is a nice little town with Smith downtown and Amherst minutes away. I like a nice college town, one of the things I Lille about living in Kalamazoo with western Michigan and Kalamazoo college.
Btw, the DeCordova was closed but I did see Walden pond as well as plenty of countryside, I took two lanes all the way there and back.
