Lloyd and Barry, I spoke this a.m. with a friend of mine who owns a book distributorship and mentioned your book idea. He seemed very interested and suggested pushing it to Abbeville Press with whom he has ties. Anyway, he would like to talk/email/meet with you two and see what you've got.
I told him all I know which is that two mid-century modern enthusiasts had compiled a large body of work on George Nelson and other period clocks and were interested in publishing a high-end coffee table book.
His name is Sam Montgomery and he owns a distribution company called The Booklink and a retail store called Kirkwood Books. He is a lovely southern gentleman who has been in the business for 40 years and knows absolutely everybody. He's kind of old school, so be nice! His email is sam@thebooklink.com. He's expecting your email.
Good Luck!
I believe Vitra is producing...
I believe Vitra is producing a complete book of Nelson's designs, including the clocks, very shortly and in connection with the upcoming exhibit (see page 72 of the September issue of Dwell Magazine). As they are the conservators of the Nelson Estate, I'm confident it will be well done and comprehensive. Perhaps other book projects should be put on hold until that time.
