Greetings,
I thought that since we had a great group of Nelson clock experts I might ask the group for some info on the below clock. I have had this clock in my collection for a short time but know very little of it other than it is a Nelson clock, created late in his career with H. Miller and it is part of the "Memphis" line. If anyone knows more about this piece or can point me in a direction of an auction house or website that contains more info I'd be greatly appreciative.
Thank in advance!
These weird clocks
were produced in 1984 and were the final group of clocks designed by George Nelson Associates.
622-410 Olympus (that's the pyramid base with the red half circle on top)
622-411 Meter (that's the pyramid base with the stem mounted twin square dial)
622-412 Metro (that's your clock; pyramid base with bent metal rod and dial on white square mounted on red circle)
I don't know how they were priced, but I read that Nelson didn't think much of these clocks and they probably were not produced for very long.
Hope this helps.
Thank you!
Thank you very much for the info. Barry, do you happen to have a source for the information provided. Was this found in a book or online source? I have a chance to by the Olympus version and want to get additional information as well as see a photo of the Meter version. Zanone - great pic.... it looks as though our second hands are different. Do you know if yours is original or replaced? Whitespike I take it you are not a fan?
Thanks again!
