As much as I like (believe it or not) my $199 Klippan sofa from IKEA, I do think an armless sofa is the way to go. Due to space limitations in my living room, though, the sofa really can't be longer than 74 inches and deeper than 35 inches.

I really like the Case Study Daybed from Modernica. However, it does not look very comfortable. Alternatively, Lazyboy is about to come out with the following couch, called Valerie:

I like the fact that the Valerie sofa is plain and unassuming - it allows for versatility w/pillows, throws, etc.

I want a couch that is comfy to watch TV for long periods of time. The Valerie sofa is similar to Oldham's Snap Sofa, which is very comfortable to sit in.

Any thoughts on the case study sofa?

Case Study vs Lazy Boy
On esthetics alone, Case Study is, in my opinion, a much more handsome piece.
I commend Lazy-Boy for making a real genuine effort at bringing modernism to fly-over country. Although I'm inclined to see it as a reaction to Ikea, it is a step in the right direction.
When the Bauhaus was founded, one of their goals was to bring quality made furniture to the common man through mass production techniques and designs that took advantage of modern manufacturing processes. I know this irony has been stated so many times over the years that it is like a broken record, but the fetishism of Bauhaus design has ironically made it affordable only to those with means.
Lazy-Boy is the manufacturer for the common American man, it seems somehow befitting that they are finally embracing modern design, and should be the ones to bring it to the masses.
If it is truly comfort above all that you're looking for, you may very well consider the Lazy-Boy. I've not tried out that piece, but if their other chairs are any indication, it is probably pretty comfortable. I generally cringe at the sight of their over-stuffed recliner chairs with garish floral velour upholstery and the big-ole-honker of a wooden lever on the side, but I must confess, they are quite comfortable to sit in.
