Oy, lads. First post here. In need of a bit of knowledge...

Are the vintage DAFs' seats merely glued to the seat backs? Wondering as I've purchased one and this is the case. Curious as to whether this is original or a touch up job.

Thanks very much.

Joshua

Yes and No
I've seen the seats and backs affixed two different ways (maybe two generations? maybe one was "tweaked"?) ? with the seat and back simply attached with an adhesive and also with a black rubber shockmount sandwiched between the two halves.

Thanks for the reply...
I'm assuming original, then. Never suspected otherwise. Just wondered whether it had been 'tinkered with' at some point. I'd never examined one up close(at least not the underside). But I seem to remember seeing one with shockmounts in between seat and back as you mention in an online auction a while back. The chair I bought came from an estate with quite a few more items of the same vein. Probably overpaid, but what the hell? I'm happy.

Bit of a shameless bump, but...
I'm quite curious to know what you lot reckon this piece is worth. As I said, I'm aware I spent top dollar for it most likely. But I have seen them go for more online. Of course, the online market is inflated to the extreme these days it seems with mid-century mod becoming ever more trendy. What would it be worth in the real world then is the question, I guess.
Cheers.
Joshua

The online market
Is only somewhat inflated because there are so many novice buyers who do not take condition into consideration as much as they probably should. The limitations of viewing digital photos online also contributes to this phenomenon.

You're quite right, Woody...
What's more frustrating than buyer ignorance inflating prices is the shameful misrepresentation by sellers. I've not made many bad purchases all in all, but I had more than my share years back when I was in full geek-out mode. That's forgivable, I reckon. Blissful ignorance. Greedy sellers, however...
